DJ Daisy, in between the bands, played the following top tunes (There dates reference when they made it into Hot Rodd & Daisy Rodger’s Top Ten tunes of the month – www.myspace.com/daisyrodgers):
The Spring Offensive
Oxford based 5 piece who produce lyrically dark, musically strong and harmonious uplifting indie pop tunes. With diverse influences from The Smiths to I Like Trains, these are new kids on the Oxford block but are already making huge waves, with BBC6 Music’s Tom Robinson loving their “heart felt, direct, emotional and gorgeous” tunes. One recent reviewer described them as “ a wonderful, euphoric, twitchily danceable new Oxford band”. We just think they are ruddy ace. Their amazing debut EP is out now. www.myspace.com/springoffensive
Hearts in Pencil
It might be easy to state their influences are Libertines-esque, but their depth of song writing and epic song structure take this young band’s indie punk/pop sound to a whole new level. These four talented Witney boys put their heart and soul into producing an energetic live performance that is not to be missed. www.myspace.com/heartsinpencil
Picturehouse
Fresh out of the box and out of the traps, Picturehouse come at you headlong with a mix of dirty beats, guitar hooks and electro loops. Influenced by Aphex Twin and Bloc Party they’ve already supported Foals and DJ Hype in their short career. Ones to watch (and dance to). www.myspace.com/picturehousemusic.
